Solidex

Unknown · Market cap:

Solidex is a decentralized finance protocol whose SEX token trades on cryptocurrency markets.

Solidex is a decentralized finance protocol built on the Fantom blockchain, and its SEX token is what trades on crypto exchanges. It is not a normal company with offices, employees selling products, and a quarterly earnings call. It is a piece of software, run by smart contracts, that lets people swap tokens, earn fees, and hold a share of the platform through a token.

Here is the basic idea. On blockchains like Fantom, traders want to swap one token for another without going through a big exchange. Solidex is one of the places that lets them do it. People who provide tokens to the platform's pools earn a cut of the trading fees, and SEX holders get a claim on the protocol's revenue. The protocol also lets users lock their tokens in exchange for a transferable receipt, which they can use elsewhere in the Fantom ecosystem. The honest part is that this is a small, speculative corner of crypto. The token is thinly traded, and its value depends heavily on the health of the Fantom network, which has faded in importance over the last few years. Solidex competes with other automated market makers on Fantom, and it lacks the scale and deep liquidity of big names. Like most small DeFi tokens, SEX swung hard in both directions and carries real risk of losing most of its value.

Timeline

  1. Solidex Launches on Fantom

Solidex was built on Fantom to boost rewards for people who lock and provide liquidity for SOLID, the token of a project called Solid. The problem was that locking SOLID yourself was a hassle. Solidex made it easy: you deposit your liquidity tokens and get SOLID rewards without locking anything yourself, much like Convex Finance does for Curve. Its own token, SEX, gave holders a say in governance and a cut of protocol revenue, and the whole thing was pitched as a pioneer of the ve(3,3) model.

  2. The SEX Partners Program

After a merger with a project called Grapes, the final tokenomics took shape, including a deal for the first 15 projects that deposited their NFTs during bootstrapping. Those partners got liquid SOLIDsex tokens, a share of SEX supply that started at 10% and could reach 15%, and a permanent slice of every SEX ever minted. The point was to pull in early protocols and lock down voting power before Solidly's emissions began.

  3. SEX Peaks, Then Collapses

SEX hit an all-time high of around €37 in early 2022. Then it fell, and kept falling, losing roughly everything from that peak.

  4. SEX Hits Rock Bottom

By late 2023 the token had sunk to about €0.0003, its all-time low. It was already down massively from the 2022 peak, marking the bottom of the slide.

  5. Market Cap Wipes Out

By mid-2024 the market cap was around CN¥33 million, thousands of percent below the high, with the token trading about 98% under its peak. Almost all of the project's former value was gone.

  6. SEX Goes Quiet

By 2026 the token traded around €0.0004, down about 100% from its high, with a market cap of just a few thousand euros. Its price data had stopped updating for over a year, a clear sign the project had gone dormant.

So the simple version: Solidex is a crypto swapping venue where the SEX token is the ownership chip. It earns money from trading activity on the platform, passes some of that to token holders, and lives or dies with the Fantom ecosystem and the willingness of people to keep trading there.
